Windows are an important part of every home. We all know what windows are - an opening that allows air to flow in and out. The more windows in a house, the more sunlight it lets in so the room becomes fresher. It further reduces the need for lights, resulting in smaller electric bills.

Before installing a window in your house, it is important that you know there are various windows for various needs. Here are five most common types of windows:

1. Double - Hung Windows

This type of window has two panes that slide vertically up and down in the frame. They can open from either the top or the bottom, but they remain inside the frame so they don't protrude out to the exterior or interior of the house. On a single-hung window, only the bottom part of the window operates while the top part remains stationary.

2. Casement Windows

These hinged windows can be hinged on the left or the right to open outward. Their design usually means a tighter seal, thereby lowering external noise and air pollution.

3. Bay or Bow Windows

Generally, bay or bow windows give you more interior space, as they protrude out from the exterior of the house. Often, they comprise of a combination of a stationary window in the middle flanked by either double-hung or casement windows.

4. Stationary Windows

These windows do not open, but they can be customized in nearly any angle or shape you desire. They are often found in modern- or contemporary-style houses in conjunction with sliding windows.

As a major property development group, Keppel Land Indonesia crafts exceptional living spaces, taking into consideration how windows affect the livability of the space. The Riviera at Puri, for example, utilizes high quality aluminum frames for every window.
